Project: Little Washougal River and Manley Creek Restoration

Client: Watershed Alliance

Location: Washington

Date: 2020 - 2023

Protection of Salmon and Other Native Fish through Restoration of Native Vegetation

To improve native fish habitat, the Watershed Alliance hired Green Banks to restore native plant communities along approximately 10 acres of the Little Washougal River and 10 acres of Manley Creek in Washington. Green Banks scientists evaluated the areas and crafted native vegetation restoration plans that increase shade along the stream. After preparing the areas using a suite of techniques, Green Banks reduced the reed canarygrass, Himalayan blackberry, and English ivy; then introduced native trees and shrubs. Under the watchful eye of Green Banks’ experts, the vegetation buffers will keep stream temperatures lower and improve conditions for salmon and other native fish.
