Tualatin Valley Environmental Bank: Hillsboro, Oregon 2009-Present
Client: Dave Heikes Farms Inc.
Green Banks was contracted to develop this 110 acre wetland mitigation bank. Green Banks completed a wetland delineation, endangered species survey, topographic survey, mitigation bank prospectus, and mitigation bank instrument for the project. We are also managing the conversion of this agricultural site into a native plant dominated, wetland preserve. Green Banks began site preparation in 2009 for the project established a native plant nursery in 2010. The project will be constructed in the summer of 2011.
Gifford-Pinchot National Forest Botany Surveys: Randall, Washington 2010
Client: The Allegiance Group LLC / U.S. Forest Service
Green Banks' scientists conducted botanical suveys on 2,716 acres in the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest. The surveys were conducted to identify endangered plant species populations, noxious weeds, and other state species of concern. The project also included the development of complete species lists for surveyed areas including bryophytes, lichens and fungi. GIS maps were created for surveyed areas that displayed endangered plant population locations, noxious weed populations, and survey routes.
Riparian Buffer and Landslide Restoration: Portland, Oregon 2010-Present
Client: Richard and Shelley Layton
Green Banks assisted with the site preparation, design and installation of a Vegetated Corridor Buffer that was required by Clean Water Services (A Washington County sewer and water provider) for residential development of the site. After the home was built, a landslide occured impacting a stream and associated buffer. Green Banks assisted in providing solutions to restore the impacted area, installed erosion controls, and seeded and planted the area with native species.
Foster Creek Mitigation Bank: Emergent, Shrub and Tree Planting 2008-2009
Client: Wetland Systems Restoration and Conservation LLC
Green Banks was contracted to install approximately 15,000 native herbs, grasses, rushes and sedges, and approximately 12,000 native trees and shrubs at the Foster Creek Mitigation Bank in Clackamas County, Oregon. Green Banks' scientists are experts in restoration technique and used a very low impact method with specialized tools for planting to minimize soil disturbance. Minimal soil disturbance can be important on sites with a non-native "weed" seed bank. This is the case because the disturbance of topsoil will often times increase the rate of weed seed germination. Green Banks owns a variety of specialized tools such as plug dibbles, and gas powered drill augers.
Green Development Planting Research, Design, Installation, Monitoring and Reporting
Green Banks is under contract to install research test plots to determine the suitability of certain native species for a diverse upland forest, riparian forest, and wetland restoration. Green Banks' ecologists can accomplish planting projects without irrigation, saving clients a large expense. Native species of plants have evolved to endure the climate conditions in this region and if installed with proper technique can survive without artificial irrigation. This Green development is in the construction phase, therefore, a majority of the native restoration project is anticipated to begin in 2010.
Native Landscape Management Contracts: Multiple Clients
Green Banks is under contract with multiple clients for the native landscape management of their wetland and riparian areas. Our management includes native plant installation, mechanical weed control, herbicide application, monitoring and reporting.
